CHOOSING THE RIGHT SWIMMING POOL CONTRACTOR

When deciding to transform your yard with a swimming pool, the first step is to choose the right contractor. There are many swimming pool companies, but how do you decide which one is the best choice?

The Pool People of Ohio is a family-owned and operated company. The Pool People of Ohio was started by the Dodds Family in 1980. The family originally started Dodds Modern Living in 1952 by Thomas Dodds, father of Dan, Pat and Jay Dodds. Jay and Dan then entered the swimming pool business in 1980.

Since the company started over 40 years ago, we have installed over 800 inground swimming pools. We

re proud to say we have an A+ Better Business Bureau rating, which is a true testament to our ongoing dedication to exceeding our customers

expectations.

The third generation of our family, Hannah and Jarrod Dodds (children of Dan) are now leading the company into the future.

We have thrived all these years due to one basic reason: Our clients TRUST us. They trust that we will do what we say. We will do it in the time frame we say, and that we will do it for a fair price.

All contractors will say they

ll give you the best of the best, but how do you know if what they are saying is actually the truth?

There is one simple and easy way to know, ask for REFFERENCES. You must take time to call and talk to as many as possible.

There are three good questions to ask each one:

  • Did they do what they said they were going to do? In other words, did the quality, labor and the materials meet their expectations?

  • Was the project completed when they said it would be completed?

  • Was the final price of the pool the same as the contracted price?

Were there unexpected add-on costs?

There is a common thought that a contractor will only give you a reference list of those customers who will give a favorable response. There is a clever way for consumers to see through this from the start. Ask the contractor how many pools they have installed in the past two years. Next ask for a reference list. If they have built a list of 10 names, then you know one of two things: they have either lied to you about how many pools or they only have a 50% satisfaction rate.

They might try to tell you there are privacy issues or the people just don't want to be bothered. This is a LIE. Our past clients list here at The Pool People that we gladly to provide to our clients contains our full list of the pools we have installed in the past  four years.

There are several important topics to research.

  • How long has the company been in operation?

  • Are they properly insured?

  • How focused are they in providing service after the sale?

  • Do they have a service department?

We at The Pool People of Ohio would like every person interested in a swimming pool to be properly informed on the different steps for choosing a contractor. Buy your pool from the company who you have developed the most trust in to do what they say they are going to do.
