Dangers of high Chlorine Levels in a Vinyl liner swimming pool
Home | Pool Styles and Designs | Pool Construction Details | Automatic Pool Covers | Pool Chemicals & Supplies | Pool Warranty | REQUEST SERVICE
There is an on going problem in the industry in witch pool owners are bleaching out their vinyl pool liners and ruining there covers be they auto or solar due to over chlorination. When you have a chlorination or a salt system, you still must check your chemical levels at least once a week, especially if you have an auto cover, or leave a solar cover on on a regular bases. Chlorine levels can spike when you use these kinds of covers because people tend to keep them on majority of the time causing the chlorine to be trapped in the pool.

Maintaining  chlorine levels of 10ppm or higher for extended periods of time can not only ruin your liner and cover but also severely damage your pool equipment. Chlorine should be maintained ideally between 1.5ppm to 3ppm. There are exceptions to this such cleaning up a green pool or when preparing for large swim loads. But theses are special circumstances and the ideal levels should be adhered to majority of the time.

I would also like to inform you that almost all manufactures will mot honor your warranty’s if the product was damaged due to chemical abuse.  So please remember to check your levels at least once a week and if you question anything please feel free to bring water into your local pool store for testing.
