We understand the convenience of one-stop shopping, but when it comes to pool chemicals, that convenience will likely result in a great deal of pool water chemistry challenges down the road. We only sell high-quality chemicals and products that cannot be purchased at big-box chain stores (like Wal-Mart, Meijer or Lowe’s, for example) because they’re only available to authorized dealers such as ourselves.
It may seem cheaper to purchase a month’s supply of chlorine from a big-box store, but you’ll actually get a lot more bang for your buck by purchasing high-quality products and chemicals from an authorized dealer.
Here are five reasons why buying high-quality chemicals will actually save you money and time:
TRUSTED EXPERTISE
Unless you’re a scientist, pool water chemistry can be confusing – and even overwhelming at times. We can all read blogs on the Internet for step-by-step instructions on how to correct a pool water challenge, but the truth is that only a trusted pool expert can help you correctly identify and overcome YOUR pool water challenge based on our decades of experience and knowledge of local pool water chemistry.
Every situation is different, and your chemistry is greatly affected by things like geography, weather, local water composition and much more – things that an online article or video doesn’t take into account. For example, phosphates are being introduced into Central Ohio tap water because they help protect plumbing. But, while this is beneficial for plumbing systems, it’s detrimental to the pools that are filled with this water. Phosphates are food for algae and having this large food source in pools causes algae to bloom, and are very difficult to kill. Algae blooms make it nearly impossible to hold a chlorine level, causing you to use two to five times the normal chemicals to maintain your water. Big-box stores wouldn't know how to identify and treat this issue, but our experts are helping customers overcome this challenge on a regular basis.
Our Experts - Along with our state-of-the-art water-testing – will save you the time and money of basically using trial and error by testing various products to see what works – we can point you in the right direction right away, reducing the time, hassle and extra cost of having to add specialty products to correct pool water problems from buying products without trusted guidance. And, you'll spend more time enjoying your pool!
We truly are your trusted experts, and we're your partners for helping you protect your pool investment and enjoy your pool to the fullest extent possible. That's why we're here – it's our passion!
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
We only sell top-of-the-line products that do not have fillers and extra binders; for example, a lot of big box store tablet products have 5 percent binders or fillers, compared to our products that have just 1 percent (and that small percent is a conditioner that you actually want in your water). Just look at the active ingredients and you'll see the difference.
QUANTITY NEEDED
You’ll need much less of a product purchased at The Pool People than at a large retail store – oftentimes, you’ll need half as much! There are a few reasons for this.
As we shared above, our products have less fillers and additives, so you're getting a larger concentration of the active ingredient.
The process by which a tablet is formed dramatically affects how quickly it dissolves, burns off and needs replaced. For example, our chlorine tables are pressed under heat and high pressure, resulting in a much harder and higher-density tablet that won’t dissolve and burn off too quickly. Low-grade alternatives available at large retailers are glued together with stearates (basically animal fat), which will not only dissolve quicker, but will also impact your water quality (see below).
WATER QUALITY
Cheap products available at large retail stores have extra binders that are left behind in the water, which can gum up chlorinators, can cloud pool water and can even leave a foul odor. Cheap products with undesirable fillers and additives can have unsightly side affects on your water. For example, using too much low-grade algaecide can cause so much foaming that our customers have explained their pool as looking like a bubble bath. And, it takes about a month for your water to clear up and go back to normal – even with the introduction of specialty products. Also, using low-grade shock in large quantities can cause cloudiness that is very difficult to get rid of, even with clarifier.
SWIMMER COMFORT
In addition to increased water clarity, our products will ensure your swimmers experience increased comfort by reducing red eyes and skin irritation.
At the end of the day, high-quality chemicals and products will produce clearer, more swimmer-friendly water, will save you money in the long-run, and will help you protect your backyard investment.
